IFFK 2012 Paid homage to many great masters of cinema
IFFK 2012 paid homage to many great masters of cinema, who have left a legacy behind them. The main speakers for paying homage at the 2012 IFFK 2012 were Shyamaprasad, Priyadarshan, Menaka, T. V. Chandran, T. K. Rajeev Kumar etc. Mastero T. Damodharan was remembered at the function. His careful research in historical details before doing a film and his passion for the work he does were remembered. Chandramathi Balan talked about Thilakan. She remembered his commitment to the craft. 'For the shoot of 'Moonampakkam', three days before the shoot began, Thilakan visited Nagercoil and walked miles in the interior villages to get into the skin of the character', reminscised Chandrika. Most speakers had something personal to say about these great men. Remembering Vindhyan, Shyamaprasad spoke of the days spent with him as a friend and classmates. T. K. Rajeev Kumar spoke about Navodhaya Appachan. 'It was Navodhaya Appachan who introduced me to the film industry. He saw my performance when I was at the university college and personaly called me to work for him', said Rajeev Kumar. 'He was a great asset to the film industry and a gudie to youngsters', he added. He is fondly called papa by everyone including Mohanlal and Fazil. Padmakumar was also featured in the homage section. T. V. Chandran talked abov the humble and considerate nature of Padmakumar. He narrated an incident where at the set of a film, when Nedumudi Venu asked about the reduced number of horses for the second shoot, Padmakumar calmly replied that he had lent it to Priyadarshan for the shoot of 'Thenmavin Kombathu'. IFFK 2012 Secretary K. Manoj Kumar was also present at the homage section.
