  1. The story based on the location of Alapuzha which is the predominance cluster of the Coir industry, and the story board which has coir industry as its main theme, has similarity with Alapuzha which is known as Venice of the East. It has no comparison either in content, characterization or substance with the famous Shakespearean play, the Merchant of Venice. It is said that the story of the 1980 Alapuzha when the Coir industry was at its peak is what the story is about. The story writers have poor knowledge of history, as 1980 was not the landmark year in which Coir industry had a sunrise growth. It was in its infancy then.Co-operative movement was gaining ground not in the 1980s, but much before, thanks to the Left government providing jobs to many through the Co-operative movement. The initial success of the Co-op movement in the Coir industry was responsible for Govt of India giving importance to co-operative movement in India. Of course in 1980, there were handful of owners, who ventured into the coir industry. The story could have been made more con formative to the Coir industry and the workers struggle.
