Admired and famous Malayalam movie rhymester Girish Puthenchery passed away at a classified hospital here tonight subsequent a cerebral blood loss. Besides writing lyrics for several hit songs, Girish had also scripted films like "Vadakkunnathan" and "Pallavoor Devanarayanan". Beginning his career in the 1990 film " Enquiry", Girish went on to write lyrics for more than 2,500 songs in over 300 Malayalam films. Girish was presently writing the script of a film called "Raman Police". He also served as a governing council member of the Indian Performance Rights Society (IPRS). He was born to Pulikkal Krishna Panicker and Meenakshiyamma in Puthenchery near Ulliyeri village in Kozhikode district. His father was an Astrologer-Ayurvedic practitioner and his mother was a Carnatic musician. The last rites are expected to take place near here Thursday. Singer M.G. Sreekumar, who sang many songs written by Girish, said he has no words to describe the loss to the Malayalam film industry.
